5 reasons Why fall weddings are better than summer

1- The Price

You just got engaged and have begun your wedding planning journey. All of your aunties are asking “have you set a date?” You reply with “July?”

So you google search the perfect venue and they are way out of your budget during your “dream time slot.” Wedding cancelled….die alone. Okay, so that’s a little dramatic. Many times you will find that if you inquire about a date during the fall months the price goes down by 30% or more.

2- The Colours

It’s all about those leaves. Your portrait session will glow with warm beautiful yellows, reds, and oranges. Your films and photos will pop. During a dry day those crunchy leaves also become free props for tossing in the air and getting those sexy ring shots.
Pray for an overcast day. The clouds are your best friend on a wedding day.. They diffuse sunlight and wrap you with evenly balanced soft light. In a studio photo/video session large diffusion boxes and panels are used to create this type of light. An overcast day gives you that quality for free!

3- The Temperature

We’ve all been to an outdoor August wedding where it’s 40C and absolutely scorching. Giant dresses and tuxedos can lead to heat exhaustion and pit stains as you say “I do.” A fall wedding usually has a temperature around 15-21C in Metro Vancouver, keeping you cool as a cucumber.

4- Allergies!!!

Spring and summer are beautiful but come with a price that most couples don’t factor into their wedding: Seasonal allergies! Itchy, watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and sniffling. The most stunning botanical garden can leave you crying for mercy. The fall months make those pollen clouds dormant and and will help keep your sinuses clear.

5- Vendor Availability

Your research is done and you have chosen your team of superstars for the perfect day. As you phone and email through your list the results are disappointing……..they’re ALL unavailable. Booking over one year in advance usually solves this issue but sometimes a wedding comes together quickly due to personal timelines.
September through November are often when things slow down for many wedding vendors. If you’re lucky they will not only be available but offer an off-season discount.
